Which Animals Do You Like?

Posted by Snoop Dog | Cat and Dog | Friday 22 August 2008 1:15 pm

Its well known that one can make quite true conclusion about a person, looking at his pet. But few of us know that well-marked antipathy for some or other kind of domestic animals also means a lot. We offer your attention a short manual on psychology of admirers and opponents of different kinds of domestic animals.

Cat

Who and why likes

Cat is a symbol of feminity and independence. A woman always imagines herself as such a mysterious, graceful, languorous, downy and slightly predatory cat. A cat is an alter ego of an owner, so if one dislikes a cat, he also dislikes her owner herself. Ladies, who combine advantages of both sexes harmoniously, usually get cats. Such women are beautiful and intelligent, feminine and efficient, sweet and persistent in gaining her goal. Spinster replaces her non-existent baby by a cat. Cat also needs care and tenderness, shes playful and naughty, like a child. A lonely woman with a cat treats men distrustfully, and enters into intimate relationships unwillingly. Children like cats, because cats resemble a mothers image, stamped in our genetic memory, warm, soft and purrs blandly. A man that likes cats accepts a womans right to be independent. As for bachelor, who got a cat, he is all-sufficient and will hardly ever marry, as he already has a girl-friend.

Who doesnt like

Hatred against cats means antipathy to the whole female sex. Theres even such term cat-phobia. Cool big men, who battle desperately with their hidden homosexual tendencies, suffer from it. He should love women, but they dont rouse him, so he lives with some lady immoderately and chokes with horror while seeing her little cat, it reminds him of the fact that hes not a man enough. As soon as he passes through appropriate psychotherapeutic treatment and realizes his real fears, his fear of cats disappears. And then he begins to suffer from his homosexuality, but this is quite another story already. If a woman hates cats, this means she denies her female essence and is afraid to show her independence.

Dog

Who and why likes

For woman, her dog is almost always a symbol of a man. Even if a dog is of female sex. Looking at a dogs breed, you can always tell which male advantages an owner values most of all. A large sheep dog says that an owner needs a defender and reliable support. A woman, who bought a French bulldog, values devotion, trustworthiness, constancy and sense of humor in her partner. A lady with Doberman has strong will-power and challenges men: Who of you can protect me better, than he does? A lady with a biting, cowardly and malicious, like a demon, creature in her hands makes great demands of men, searching for unreal advantages in them, and thus, shes seldom happy in marriage.

A man always identifies himself with his dog. Thats why a peaceful accountant, walking with a bull terrier, is always aggressive in his soul. A man, who likes long-haired collie, is sentimental, vulnerable, but being in a critical situation, hes courageous and ready to protect his flock to the uttermost (by the way, the latest phrase concerns all sheep dogs-fanciers too). The one, who bought a rottweiler, has a sharp character, prefers loneliness and tames difficultly. Almost all dog-fanciers, regardless of their sex, are intolerant to other peoples independence and strive to control life and actions of close people. A child searches for a friend and defender in a dog. An obstinate striving of a child to have a puppy says about his inner loneliness or fear of life and only sometimes about his wish to get a merry companion for games. It wont be enough just to buy him a puppy, you should also present your baby communication, protection or entertainments.

Who doesnt like

Not malicious and cruel people hate dogs, as people sometimes consider. The one, who doesnt bear dogs, either is too timid and afraid of these biting and loudly barking predators, or prefers to search for love and friendship in the world of people and doesnt understand why he should get a little wolf to himself. Many people sicken the necessity to break other living creature, to become a leader of a troop, dont want to turn to be a slave of a domestic animal, as some owners readily do, so they refuse to get a dog at home flatly.

Hamster and guinea-pig

Who and why likes

Those, who love all small and fluffy, need a strong mans protection, tenderness, care and feel small and helpless. Thats why children ask for hamsters so often, they want to be big, strong and careful for little animals.

Who doesnt like

If a person cannot stand other peoples stupidity, hell hardly ever be touched while seeing a hamster or guinea-pig.

Rat

Who and why likes

A domestic rat is intelligent, white and fluffy. Loving a rat is the same as declaring to the whole world: Im not a bore, I have original thought, and your stereotypes have no power over me!. The one, who likes rats, will learn everything firstly, touch and check, and only then make his conclusion, and he doesnt care for other peoples opinion. If a child brought a rat at home, this means he has rather sociable, curious and kind-hearted character.

Who doesnt like

Conservative, cautious people, keeping to beaten tracks in life, and also shy, diffident people cannot stand white rats.

Parrot

Who and why likes

Melancholic, vulnerable and very naпve persons, boring in silence and loneliness, buy noisy and theoretically long-living parrot. They dont even suspect of lots of troubles, which these delicate little birds, aiming constantly at dying of pneumonia, can give to their owner. Parrot reminds romantics of tropical islands, pirates and compensates for a deficiency in traveling in everyday life. Pensioners epidemic infatuation for parrots is a forced event and doesnt have any psychological hidden motive: many old people would like to get a dog, but they dont have enough forces to walk with it.

Who doesnt like

Irritable, quick-tempered or burdened with some serious stressed work people. Such man cannot value the whole humor of the situation, when a small bird swoops on his head and gets tangled in his hair. Sybarites, who value peace and harmony, have no special liking of stridently chirping parrots.

Hedgehog

Who and why likes

Hedgehog is spiny, but has a soft and delicate belly. Hedgehog-owners are harsh in appearance, and vulnerable in soul. They think they should be harsh among people, respond with a proactive blow to any semblance of attack, and later they suffer that they offended innocent people. They are not able to betray, they are often straightforward. Women often choose hedgehogs, life makes them to be cutting, and in a hedgehog such woman likes herself, so vulnerable under thorns. And some are delighted with a hedgehogs ability to roll itself into a thorny ball and wait through troubles. And such person, regardless of his age and sex, needs a defender.

Who doesnt like

The one, who slipped his foot in a slipper in the morning and understood, where this night animal decided to fall asleep.

Fishes

Who and why likes

Two categories of people prefer silent fishes. The first one includes active, emotional, spirited people; they calm down looking at slow motions of some fish. For them, aquarium with fishes is just a detail of interior, like a TV-set. The second one includes original and somewhat eccentric thinkers. These people like cold-blooded fishes for their dissimilitude on people and, contemplating underwater world, escape from reality. They are quite aggressive and watch calmly how such beautiful creatures devour each other or eat their own spawn.

Who doesnt like

Individual extremely sensitive people, who cannot stand aggression in any form.

Tortoise

Who and why likes

An embodiment of reliability and complete peace, not in vain, according to Chinese mythology, the Earth is resting on a gigantic tortoises shell. Connoisseurs of comfort and stability, with delicate soul organization, buy tortoise. A tortoise will never replace neither husband, nor friend. If a tortoise lives in a house of a lonely woman or man, this means they are striving for love, open to proposals and ready for long and stable relationships.

Who doesnt like

A slow-moving tortoise irritates impetuous, sociable, talkative people, needing listeners and concentrated on their own problems.

Well, if you have no one, and dont want to?! If you, so adult and independent, have no home pets and youre absolutely indifferent to them, then this may mean the following:

1. Youve got someone to take care and be in command of. You have enough close people, ready to support and protect you, all reserves of your feelings are busy, and you have no necessity to pour out on something fluffy or feathery. 2. You dont get tired of communication with people, get into contact with them easily and in situations when someone buys a lap-dog or parrot, you find a new friend or call your daughter. 3. You dont want to take responsibility for another living creature at all. You should cope with your own life first somehow. 4. You dont want to depend on somebody. 5. You understand instinctively: only a man can give you things, which you need, and your whole essence is indignant with a possibility to replace a son by a kitten, a husband by a dog, a soul comfort by an aquarium with fishes. 6. You dont like animals and they are absolutely uninteresting for you. And you shouldnt be ashamed of this fact: a myth saying that only malicious egoists dont like animals has no real reasons. Quite opposite, sometimes contempt and hatred to mankind are hidden behind an exaggerated passion for animals. Bridget Bardo is a typical example. Shes devoid of maternal instinct, cannot stand her own adult son, stick to profascist views and at the same time urges us not to wear fur coats.

As a rule, we choose home pets for ourselves, following 3 motives subconsciously. This animal is a spitting image of myself! Ah, how I wish to behave like this! Allow myself all these escapades and no one will punish me! God, I miss a creature with all advantages of this fascinating being near myself so much!

Whos an owner of our common pet?

Even in the biggest family an idea of buying a dog or rat occurs to some one person, and all others agree with another persons idea gladly or reluctantly. The one, who offered, is an owner of a pet, and these are his features of character, that are reflected in a choice of an animal.

Skyes The Great Little Dog

Posted by Snoop Dog | Cat and Dog | Friday 22 August 2008 5:15 am

The say a dog is mans best friend, but we all know they are more like a family member. This is particularly true for Skyes.

Skyes The Great Little Dog

Picking a new pet is a joyous occasion, but also a difficult one. There are so many decisions to be made dog or cat (or even fish or bird)? Once you’ve decided that a dog is the right choice for your household, even more questions come into play. You need to decide what breed will be right for your temperament, location and family. Some people will choose a dog based on other characteristics, such as a specific breed or size. It’s important to learn as much as you can about your chosen dog before actually purchasing a puppy.

Few people can look at Skyes without finding them to be extremely cute. This member of the terrier family may not be the dog for everyone, but if you’ve got a big heart (and even bigger yard) they can grow up to be excellent family dogs. Skyes are a large dog, but have short legs. It’s generally around 20 inches in length, but has only 10 inch legs, making it look rather stumpy. Don’t let the height fool you, however, these dogs are tough they were originally used as farm work dogs. Skyes became popular as pets when Queen Victoria started breeding them during her reign, and she popularized the prick ear variety of the breed.

Skyes are born with a thick coat, which is actually two coats. A hard, straight and stiff topcoat covers the shorter, softer undercoat. Their fluffy faces often have the bearded look that most terriers have, and colors vary from cream to dark black. Luckily, their coats are resistant to tangling, so grooming is not a big issue for the Skye, and they are not expected to have any special grooming look (no poodle cuts for a Skye!).

The Skye’s temperament is somewhat reserved, and they are very discriminating. They will often choose to be around the calmest person in a household, as they crave this order and reserved attitude. They are very intelligent, and require little exercise, so for the right person, a Skye can be an excellent indoor dog.

Choosing the right dog for your family is important, so do your research. The American Kennel Club offers suggestions about breeds, as well as descriptions of the breeds’ characteristics, so they are a good reference point for people deciding whether or not to get a particular breed.

Choosing The Right Dog For You

Posted by Snoop Dog | Cat and Dog | Wednesday 20 August 2008 1:14 pm

The decision to get a dog maybe a decision the whole family makes. Or a single person may suddenly stop in front of a pet store and fall in love with the adorable face of a puppy in the window. Dogs can be companions, friends or protection from burglars. Before making the choice of what breed of dog you want take several things into consideration.

FAMILY SIZE. How many people are in your household? Will there be enough room for a big dog? How old are your children? Are these children living in the same house?

If your kids are fairly young, choose a smaller dog that is rugged and can stand the punishment of a child. It may not be a good idea to get a large dog that may be so rough on your children that you have to worry about their safety when the dog is around. Neither do you want to be concerned with your playful toddler hurting a Miniature Poodle. Try a Cocker Spaniel

BUDGET. How much disposable cash do you have after your bills are paid? How much can you afford to pay for dog food consistently month to month? How much have you got in your savings in case the dog has to go to the vet? How much do you have saved for regular medical checkups?

Dogs can cost you as much money as your children. Budget for the expenses of having a dog the same way you would plan a new arrival from the maternity ward of a hospital. If your budget is small and you require low maintenance, consider a Jack Russell Terrier to spend less on food. If your budget can handle lavishly pampering your dog, maybe a Toy Poodle is your ideal dog. Budgets not an issue? Go ahead and splurge on an Akita or St. Bernard.

LIVING SPACE. Do you have a large yard that a happy dog can lose his mind running around in? Are you in an apartment with neighbors who bang on the walls if your television is too loud?

Pet friendly apartments often charge extra to your rent based on the size of the dog. If youve discovered your budget for a new pet is minimal you need a smaller dog. A pug may be your choice. They are too small to make noise if they run around the house, they rarely bark and theyll keep your extra rental costs down.

PURPOSE. Are you looking for a friend in your dog? Do you need your dog to help you around because of a disability? Do you want your dog to deter burglars?

Your desire for a dog influences your choice of dog breed significantly. Labradors make great friends. They are loyal, playful and quite intelligent. Dobermans are statuesque and always look like they are ready to attack. A pair of Dobermans is the perfect deterrent for criminals. The German Shepherds are the universal choice for help because they are so easily trained.

Whatever choice you make in selecting a friend, companion or protector, review all your options carefully. There are many resource sites online that will explain what to expect from various breeds.

West Highland White Terriers Make Your Westie Famous

Posted by Snoop Dog | Cat and Dog | Sunday 17 August 2008 9:15 pm

The West Highland White Terrier or Westie, has it’s origin, as the name suggests, in the western Scottish Highlands. They were originally bred for controlling the population of rats, fox, otter and other vermin

The West highland White Terrier (also known as the Westie) is a elegant looking dog with beautiful eyes (this is my favourite feature).

Class: Terrier

Colour: White (Did I say white? – Definitely not today)

Height: Dogs – 10-12 inches

Bitches – 9-11 inches

Weight: Dogs – 15-22 lbs

Bitches – 13-16 lbs

Life Span: 15 years

Litter Size: 2-5

From an owners perspective, I find the Westie, active, assertive, fun loving and does he like to play. Our westie called Pepper has a continual fight with the hoover.

He also likes to chase our cat (who is 9 years). She can’t be bothered with him and has put him in his place a few times. However he never seems to learn.

His other love is going for a walk. He goes crazy when he sees the dog lead being taken out of the drawer.

Nowadays, they are more of a companion or family dog, even though they have strong terrier instincts. Above all they are a very smart, loyal and lovable dog.

So, westie owners everywhere, come on and submit your pics and stories to:

Westie West Highland White Terrier Puppies Fragile And Needful Of Protection

Posted by Snoop Dog | Cat and Dog | Sunday 17 August 2008 9:15 am

Have you ever held any Westie puppies? These tiny creatures are cuddly and white furry balls, at least 12-15 inches tall, possessing a pair of coal black eyes and snubbed nose. They look fragile and needful of your protection and care. This is deceiving, for they were initially bred to hunt vermin and are intelligent hunters.

Historically the Westies or West Highland White Terriers were bred in the high mountains of west Scotland and claims ancestry to the Scotch Terrier.

While many dog owners who own Westie puppies know they dont come cheap, the joy, loyalty and love these dogs have give are worth it.

Is it easy to acquire any of the Westies puppies? No, youll need to be mindful that Westies puppies breeders are selective with whom theyll place their puppies. Only dog lovers with an extensive understanding of this breeds need for extensive grooming and exercise are considered.

Here are useful facts about Westies puppies, for dog lovers.

When and how should you teach your Westies puppy to socialize? The ideal time, would be when the puppy is between eight and 16 weeks of age, theyre rapidly maturing during this period. Make sure the pup is exposed to every stimulus hell have during his lifetime, while he/she is very young. Or else youll get a fearful dog.

Choose food specially formulated for puppies. Dont feed them people food.

At first offer food to these young puppies three times a day. After 5-6 months, feed the puppy twice a day. To avoid the puppy getting obese, let the puppy eat for only fifteen minutes, then remove the food dish. Check your Westies puppys paws and nails on a weekly basis.

Trim the hairs between the paws and nails.

Make sure the house is warm, before you bathe your pup, as puppies can lose body temperature quickly. Avoid getting shampoo in their eyes and keep water out of the ears. Wash the pups face last. Towel dry your pup as soon as his bath is done. You can use a hair dryer, but regulate the heat, or you might burn your pup.

Puppies normally lose the disease protection theyve received from their mothers, when they are around six and sixteen weeks of age. To avoid their getting sick, keep your pup away from sick dogs. Check with the vet when to schedule the puppys shots.

Lastly, heres one way to keep your Westie puppys fur white. Use a white grooming chalk and sprinkle it into the coat once a week or as needed.

Take care of your Westie puppy, and youll be rewarded with an intelligent dog thats loving and delightful.

Read This Article If You Are Against Abuse To Animals

Posted by Snoop Dog | Cat and Dog | Saturday 16 August 2008 9:15 am

There are significant issues in our country to animal abuses. So many people needlessly abuse animals. Often they take on pets they do not care for or feed. Sometimes they punish their pets by almost killing them without understanding that animals have innate instincts that are difficult to overcome. Many times the problem starts with the owners themselves when they fail to train their animals not to pee on the carpet, claw the couch, or lay on the bed. Then they punish the animal for the hair on sheets, ruined upholstery, or the costs associated with calling Service Master, Chem Dry, or Stanley Steamer. Often the pet has very little clue as to what is going on and the sub-human keeps beating on them to near death.

Animal abuse is wrong, but there are some people who are doing some positive things to prevent it and no I am not talking about the fringe groups who have joined up with the eco-terrorists. I am talking about the new Animal Channel, which shows animal inspectors going out and fining, arresting, or ticketing abusers of animals. The show is similar to Cops and it is worthy of your time to watch. It will help you stay observant when you see animals which are malnourished, not taken care of, or severely abused. There are signs to look for and as you watch this channel you will see the clues. Think on this.

West Highland WhiteTerrier Grooming Key Considerations

Posted by Snoop Dog | Cat and Dog | Friday 15 August 2008 1:15 pm

Whether you intend to show your Westie, or keep him for a household pet, the first key to West Highland Terrier grooming is to start while he is a puppy.

Take your Westie to his first groomer appointment after he has had all of his shots, at approximately 14 weeks. Acclimate your dog to the grooming process, and he will grow to accept it as part of his natural routine. If you intend to groom your dog at home, give him his first clipping at around the same age.

West Highland Terrier grooming, whether performed at home or by a groomer, should be performed with the dog’s safety and comfort as the first considerations. Be aware of the practices used by your groomer, and be sure to remain with your dog until you are convinced that he is safe.

Contact your local Westie Club to find a reputable groomer. If you intend to show your dog, you will want to be sure that your groomer knows what a Westie cut looks like. It is not unusual for owners to find that their Westie has come home from a grooming looking like a Schnauzer or a Scottish Terrier. If you are uncertain, bring photographs to your first groomer visit.

Although you might think that, after safety, your first consideration is price, how to groom your Westie is your next decision. A show dog must be hand stripped to give the dog its Westie look – round head, carrot-shaped tail, and blended skirt.

Hand stripping involves actually pulling hairs. When they grow back, they tend to be straighter and coarser. Many claim that a hand stripped Westie coat sheds dirt, allowing the dog to go longer between baths. Hand stripping is not necessary for a Westie that is kept as a pet, and a regular clipping from your groomer, or at home, is all that your dog needs. A clipped Westie coat will be softer and curlier, and more prone to staining.

Because of their white coats, staining is another problem peculiar to West Highland Terrier grooming. If the hair is white at the base, licking might be the problem, and is often triggered by cuts and abrasions, or objects lodged in the hair around the paw.

Hair that is stained down to the base may indicate a fungal or yeast infection, and your Westie should see a veterinarian. Staining around the muzzle is most often caused by the food the dog eats. Check for red food dies, or beets in the formula. If you want your Westie to attain show dog perfection, a cotton ball dipped in hydrogen peroxide, and wiped on the beard daily, will lighten and prevent the stains.

The Gourmet Pet

Posted by Snoop Dog | Cat and Dog | Tuesday 5 August 2008 1:14 pm

You let them sleep in your bed when you shouldn’t. You stay up all night with them during thunderstorms. You constantly clean up after the little messes they leave around the house. And you’re always forgiving them when they get into trouble. You know you’d do anything for your pet, (don’t even pretend you were thinking about your children!) so why should they be left out of the kitchen? Take your pet’s diet into your own hands and bake them up a batch of their favorite treats.

Nutrition

Like people, pets have specific dietary needs. Depending on whether they’re cuddly new puppies or sweetly serene older cats, satisfying these needs are important. Just like in your own diet, pets need proper amounts of fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, energy, protein and water. Heres a quick but far from complete reference guide for feeding your pet.

Fats Both cats and dogs need omega 6 fatty acids in their diets. Cats require two (linoleic and arachidonic) whereas dogs only require one (linoleic). Omega 3 fatty acids are not considered necessary in the diets of cats and dogs.

Carbohydrates Though these sugars and fibers are not essential in terms of nutrition, they are extremely important for your pet’s energy level.

Vitamins There are two types of vitamins that your pet (and your family) should consume on a regular basis: fat-soluble and water-soluble. Fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K) are required in small quantities daily because the body stores them in the liver and other body fat. Fat-soluble vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B6, B12) should be consumed daily as the body does not store them as well.

Minerals Often appearing on canned food labels as ash, these inorganic materials are important for your pet’s daily requirements. Macrominerals (calcium, phosphorus, sodium, chloride, magnesium and potassium) are all required in relatively large amounts (grams per day) for your pet. Microminerals (iron, copper, zinc, magnesium and selenium) are required in relatively small quantities (micrograms or less per day).

Energy It can be difficult to determine how much food to feed your pet, especially if he’s growing quickly. Animals need calories for energy just like humans do, so this is an key part of their diets. PetDiets.com offers a food calculator that helps you figure out exactly what to feed your pet.

Protein Rather than requiring protein in their diets, pets need a certain amount of amino acids each day (cat need 13 amino acids and dogs need 12 amino acids). It doesn’t matter what the source of this protein is (chicken, beef, soybean, lamb, etc.), it just needs to appear in their diet. This is a slightly controversial topic as some veterinarians feel pets must consume meat while others advocate a vegetarian diet. Speak to your veterinarian to get his or her opinion.

Water You should always have fresh water available for your pet. They don’t know how to ask (though they can certainly make it clear sometimes), so don’t make them beg. Water makes up between 40 and 80 percent of your pet’s body mass, which makes it crucial that they have constant access to it.

Remember, these are just guidelines. If you have questions about your pet’s diet, please speak to your veterinarian. You can also consult PetDiets.com, which is an informative website run by veterinarians.

Is Chocolate Really Toxic for Dogs?

Yes! The rumors are true large amounts of chocolate can be lethal for dogs. Chocolate contains theobromine, which is a stimulant found in the cocoa bean that affects the central nervous system and the heart. Different types of chocolate have different affects, and it also depends on how large your dog is. If he accidentally eats an M&M, you don’t have to rush to the vet, but if he consumes an entire chocolate cake, there may be cause for concern. Just beware of what your dog eats and keep in mind this potentially dangerous situation.

Carefully transfer bones to wire rack to cool completely. Refrigerate in airtight container.

Fidos Fabulous People Biscuits
Ingredients

1/4 C. hot water
8 cubes chicken bouillon cube
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 tsp. sugar
1 1/2 C. tomato juice
2 C. all-purpose flour
2 C. wheat germ
1 1/2 C. whole wheat flour

Directions

Preheat oven to 300 degrees, then pour the water into a large bowl. Add the sugar and yeast and let stand for about 5 minutes. Then add the chicken bouilion cubes. Crush them with a fork as you stir them in.

Add the tomato juice, 1 C. all-purpose flour and the wheat germ. Stir with a large spoon to form a smooth batter. Then stir in the remaining all-purpose and whole wheat flours (this will make the dough very dry and stiff). You’ll probably have to use your hands to finish mixing.

Sprinkle flour on your cutting board, then take a couple of handfuls of dough out and work into a small ball shape. Then, with a rolling pin flatten the balls to about 1/4-inch thick on the cutting board. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour

Use a table knife to cut out people shapes. Then repeat the whole process again with the rest of the dough, working a few handfuls at a time. Finally, use a spatula to put people biscuits onto a cookie sheet. Then bake at 300 degrees for about an hour. Afterwards, let them dry in the turned-off oven for about 4 hours.

Serve with a bowl of water and a nice big bone.

10 Reasons Why Your Cat Loves You

Posted by Snoop Dog | Cat and Dog | Tuesday 5 August 2008 5:14 am

There are plenty of reasons why your cat loves you. Ten of the main reasons are listed below. Enjoy!

1. You provide food – Cats love food and they love you for giving them that food. If it wasn’t for you, they’d go hungry, and of course, if it wasn’t for you, they wouldn’t get those tasty scraps of meat after a meal. Those crunchy little biscuits aren’t half bad either.

2. You clean the litter tray – You always keep their bathroom area very clean. After all, cats are very clean animals, and they’re very appreciative of the work you do in cleaning out their litter tray, as well as the area around it. Poor things, they can’t help spraying litter all over the floor!

3. You are a great companion – You’re always there to play with them, whether it be with a piece of string or with a toy mouse which looks so amazingly real yet it magically comes back to life every time its head has just been chewed on for five minutes by your cat!

4. You’re comfortable to sit (and sleep) on – On those cold dark evenings, you’re always there to be sat on and nuzzled into. You’re so warm compared to some of the places they could sleep, and the gap between your knees makes a great paw warmer!

5. You provide shelter – They have a whole house to themselves thanks to you. While it’s raining outside they can cheerfully look out the window at all the other poor animals that have to put up with the rain. There’s always a corner in your house where they can curl up and go to sleep as well. Luxury!

6. You’re bigger than any dog – You’re (almost) always there to fend off any nasty big dogs that could eat them whole and they appreciate this greatly. Especially at the vets when a huge hairy dog is eyeing them up, they know that you’re behind them so they’ll be safe.

7. You always know where to scratch – Whether it’s behind the ears, under the chin, or on their stomach, cats just love the way you always scratch, stroke, and pet them. Its one of the things they love most, and they love you for it, and when you get that special brush out, it’s just the best thing in the world!

8. You always talk back – Whenever they meow, you always give a consoling reply either in native cat language by meowing back, or by saying something in a high pitched voice that only babies would understand!

9. You provide things to claw – Whether it is furniture, carpet, or a delicate set of curtains, there’s always something for your cat to get their claws into. What would they do without all the clawing material you provide…? It’s possible that they might consider using the specially designed scratch post that you bought for them.

10. You love them – The greatest reason of all, which encompasses all those mentioned above. They love you because you love them.

Well, those were ten of the main reasons your cat loves you. I’m sure you related to most, if not all, of them. Rest assured, your cat does love you, because they couldn’t live without you, just as you couldn’t live without them!

10 Reasons For Grooming Your Dog On A Regular Schedule

Posted by Snoop Dog | Cat and Dog | Monday 4 August 2008 5:15 pm

You love your dog; but should you believe that groomer that recommends having your pet bathed and groomed every 4 to 6 weeks? After all, isn’t it just a matter of them getting to your pocket book? Actually, there’s far more to it than money. In fact, did you know a lack of grooming can negatively affect the state of your dog’s health? Here’s how:

1) Dogs cool off by panting and by air circulating around and through their pads. Long hair impairs that ability.

2) Crust in corner of the eyes causes sores can lead to your pet’s discomfort. These sores can only be seen after removing the thick crust upon grooming.

3) Long and overgrown nails force your dog to walk on the sides of their pads. In the long run, this contributes to arthritis in the legs and hips.

4) Matted hair pulls and causes pain for your pet, and creates a breeding environment for fleas, ticks and their nests.

5) Anal glands are the most neglected part of your dog’s body. As they fill up, some can burst causing very expensive surgery and unnecessary pain. A thorough groom includes expressing these glands.

6) Your dog’s ears have hair deep within the inner canals that need to be removed every 4 to 6 weeks; otherwise you risk inflammations and potential ear infections.

7) Hair in anal areas as well as the ears serves as hosting areas for nests, resulting in fleas dwelling in the inner canals of the ears and into the anal canal.

8) Clearing your dog’s private areas of hair is just plain good hygiene. This guarantees your dog’s excretions and stool will not stick and be carried indoors.

9) Some breeds have under-coats that build from shedding within. The outer and inner coat become thickly packed and form thick mats that are extremely difficult to remove, and may result in a much shorter cut than desired.

10) Bathing your dog without first brushing creates small, tight knots referred to as pin knots. These types of knots make your pet’s grooming experience a painful and unpleasant one. Removing these knots may also result in a much shorter cut than you may have desired.
