The process of euthanasia – What if your dog or cat is put to sleep?
I often get clients asking me what will happen if they bring their pet to the vet for euthanasia. During each veterinarian will have a slightly different routine, I'd like to share with you what has happened in my office. Sometimes knowing what will happen, make things a bit 'easier for us in this difficult time.
The first thing that happens is the paperwork. You must have an authorization form for euthanasia and also stating that the dog did not bite anyone charactersin the last 14 days. We want to take care of the bill before the procedure, so it is done behind every face.

Then, an IV catheter is placed in a vein (usually in a front leg) and in force with adhesive tape. Once done, then the veterinarian will perform the injection through this catheter. The solution euthanasia is an overdose of anesthetic. It causes the animal to be completely unaware of what is happening.Your dog or cat is simply the feeling that he or she sleeps. You do not have pain or discomfort at all.
The euthanasia solution is very fast. Usually completed by the time of injection, the heart has stopped. Most animals do not close your eyes. It is usually very quiet. However, the animal dies a sigh or an occasional grunt as her. It 's rare, but once or twice a year we will see an animal that makes a very strongNoise or has some strange muscle contractions, as they go. It 'hard to see, but if this happens to your pet, it is important to remember that they did not even realize what has happened.
Euthanasia is very difficult, but in most cases, this is the kindest thing for an animal that can do with pain or suffering. It is normal to feel extreme pain for this. For many, the loss of a pet is emotionally the hardest loss of a parent.
